God said to his people in Malachi 3:10: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it,” (NIV).

Jesus said: “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure–pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return” (Luke 6:38, NASB).

These and many other passages teach us to put God first in our giving. When we do that, it acknowledges God as the provider of our resources, demonstrates our trust in him, and shows that our hearts beat with his in wanting to give to bless others.
